We love Dr. Tran!!!
Spending Thanksgiving with cousins Megan and Lauren, from Utah!! Noa is lov'n have her older cousins in town!!
I had Noa's parent-teacher conference today Her Spanish teacher reports that she is extremely well-behaved, is higher in math than reading, and needs to have more opportunities to speak Spanish outside of school.
Her academic day is 70% in Spanish. Students are expected to read, write, and speak in Spanish. Considering there is no one at home to practice with, she is doing very well... I'm very proud.
To celebrate her successes, we are seeing Dr. Seuss'movie, The Grinch.
I love you, baby!
Noa, Cousin Tommy, and I traveled to Florida to see our family friend, Liz. We made a vacation out of it, and added an overnight cruise to Grand Bahama island.
We had an AMAZING time, best trip I've taken! In Florida, we visited Myakka River State Park and rented a canoe. Our mission, okay it was more like my mission, was to find alligators. Noa was apprehensive but she got in the canoe and we were off! Our first sighting took us by surprise as all we heard was the splashing of water from an alligator that scurried off... it freaked us out and because we were in a canoe I told Noa to stay still so we didn't tip! She said, You are a crazy mom, you are ruining my childhood!!!" Once I knew we were all safe, we kept searching and ended up spotting a few more and turned out we all had an amazing time, and wanted to do it again!!!!
We searched for shark teeth at the local beaches and were able to find quite a few. Unfortunately the beaches had a huge problem with Red Tide. Noa and Tommy were fine but it caused me to cough the entire time. It was hot if you were sitting still on the beach, and Noa wasn't getting in water so she wasn't enjoying herself. After I dragged her in and swam with her she had a much better time. She just didn't have any experience of swimming in the ocean so I can see how it was intimidating.
Our last Florida adventure was taking an airboat tour along Peace River. At first, I thought it was going to kind of lame but it turned out to be super fun and educational! The airboat was fast and it can travel on land and water. We saw more alligators and I took a $10 challenge to jump in and out of the river! I was the first woman to do it but couldn't get Noa to do it with me. I bribed her with $100 or a new Nintendo Switch game but no deal. At least she saw me to it! After, she said, "My mom's cool!" Lol
We will talk about this trip the rest of our lives.
Noa is such a sweet girl. I was in bed for the night and she comes in to deliver this love note ...
The writing is so light but it says, "Dere mommy I love you So mutch and I mis you wen you'r gon"
She also made one for Tommy!
Went with Noa on a field trip to Channel Islands National Park. Afterwards the class ate lunch at the harbor and played at Mother's Beach.
She was so excited for me to come, she was marking off the days on her calendar. Knowing how bad she wanted me to go made me feel good. Fortunately I'm in a position where I can take the day off and spend that time with her, ow her that I support her and see value in her education Of course I know she doesn''m very fortunate that I'mable to take a day off and show come made me feel proud.
Seeing her interact with her friends was interesting. I saw my little girl who was far very talkative,
Since her instruction is in Spanish, so was the field trip. I didn't understand all that was said but I managed and had a great time.
I had a rough day. I dropped Noa off at gymnastics and then received a call saying there were no classes on Wednesdays, I needed to pick her up. Oops.
Truth be told, even after knowing she needed to be picked up, I chose to run an errand and go to Starbucks. I just needed tea and pumpkin bread, she wasn't going anywhere.
Today was the first earthquake that I can remember since Noa's been born. It was 5.3 and the epicenter was Santa Cruz Island, about 20 miles from us.
We were both in my bedroom, Noa was sitting at the computer but she didn't feel it. I was standing still and as soon as I felt the ground roll, we quickly went outside. It was quiet and lasted about 10 seconds, enough to rattle my nerves!
