Merry Christmas 2014

Merry Christmas!  This morning, Noa woke up as if it were any other day.  Grandma had to prompt her to check and see if Santa ate his cookies.  Then, she saw her present from Santa... a Frozen scooter!  She said, "I'm so glad Santa bring me a scooter!".

She did ask to see if the reindeer had eaten their food,  we checked and it was still out on the lawn... hmmm, I must read more about that.

Wishing all our loved ones a Merry Christmas!

P.S. Noa turned 3.5 years old on December 15th!

Goodbye Elf On The Shelf

Tonight, we said 'goodbye' to our Elf On The Shelf, who has yet to be named.  Noa hugged him goodbye as he will soon head back to the North Pole.

One Man's Trash...

Is Noa's Treasure!  This beautiful doll house was found near the trash.  I'm sure the person knew it would find a good home!

What Drought?

Noa loves to help mom, okay who are we kidding... Noa loves to help grandma do the dishes.  Drought or no drought, I'm letting her 'do the dishes' - its all part of making memories and playing house!

The Daddy Question

It's no secret, I don't cook - but I do try to make her lunch box cute.  I've been obsessed with creating cute bento box lunches.  So, off to the Asian store I go in search of silicone cupcake molds.  We shop, eat lunch, and are having a nice day.  As we are crossing busy Sawtelle Blvd. in Los Angeles, Noa asks, "Do I have a dad?"  I thought I heard her but just to double check, I blurted out "What did you say?" She gave me a shy look and asked again  .. I said, "no, just a mommy" and she continued skipping across the street.

I will have many opportunities over Noa's lifetime to revisit this subject at different stages of development, for now she knows she just has a mom, and life is good.

Noa is 3 years, 3 months old.

Meeting Preschool Teacher

Yaya, grandma, Noa and I went to meet Noa's preschool teacher, Teacher Tanya.

First Day of Preschool

Both Noa and I survived the first day of preschool without any tears!!  Noa had an amazing opportunity to attend Dwire Preschool in Oxnard.  Dwire is an integrated preschool that is designed to provide the enrolled students with special needs an opportunity to interact with non-disabled/typical peers who can serve as age-appropriate role models for communication, mobility, and social skills.
Before I said goodbye to Noa she said, "Mom, I wanna tell you a secret, I don't wanna go."  A huge thank you to Marylove and Susan for making sure she got in to class, so I could make it to work on time.  My school is literally next door!
Noa's sitter, Rita, picks her up from school at 11:15 a.m. and I pick her up after work.
When asked about her first day she said she played on the merry-go-round and sang Wheels On The Bus, she was very happy!!
The teacher sent home quite a nice note:

8/27 Great first day for Noa! She was so independent and content. She was an awesome model for my other typical student who was having anxiety. Noa is a very bright girl who I obviously have to put harder work for in her independent work station! She participated in everything. (Circle, art, independent work station and playdough.) She sits very well, follows directions and has excellent behavior. What a lucky teacher I am! Noa is beyond her years! Lots of self-control, very attentive and focused!  I'm in awe!  Great job mom!  You done an amazing job!

After reading the note (and holding back tears) I gave a huge thank you to Mrs. Rita, Noa's sitter.  Mrs. Rita is the one who has taught Noa, and me, so much!  Just 3 days ago Noa was coloring and I had no idea how well she was able to stay in the lines... why? Because I'm working all day and Mrs. Rita is the one who works with her, provides structure, love, and discipline.
Thank you, Marylove, for the beautiful First Day sign!

Dress Rehearsal for Halloween

Costco had Halloween costumes out today and Noa wanted to be Princess Merida ... I wasn't aware of a Princess Merida and asked her to show me the costume... she took me right to the costume she wanted, and 'Merida' was on the tag... just when I thought I had learned all their names!
Noa is so girly, I'm having fun learning alongside of her!

Mani/Pedi Time

Noa had a swim lesson today and she did great... she just wasn't ready last year.  I thought I'd take her for a mani/pedi afterwards. She chose a pink color for her fingers, and a different shade of pink for her toes ... with flowers of course.

Aunt Judy's Peanut Butter Pie

Noa helping mommy make Aunt Judy's Peanut Butter Pie... so easy and yummy!

Ingredients:
1 tub (8 oz.) Cool Whip
1 prepared graham cracker pie crust or Oreo pie crust
1/3 cup fudge sauce (I use Smuckers hot fudge)
1 cup cold milk
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 pkg (4 serving size) Instant vanilla pudding

1. Spread 1 cup of the cool whip in bottom of crust.  Freeze for 15 min.  Then carefully spread fudge sauce over cool whip.
2. Gradually stir milk into peanut butter in large bowl - until smooth.  Add pudding mix and beat with wire whisk 1-2 min.  Gently stir in remaining cool whip.  Spoon over fudge sauce.
3. Freeze 4 hours or overnight until firm.  Let stand at room temp or until pie can be easily cut.  Store leftover pie in freezer.  Can serve with heated fudge over the top.

Enjoy!

Thank you, Aunt Judy, for this yummy receipe.

Santa Barbara Zoo

Visited the Santa Barbara Zoo today with YaYa and Brian.  Last time we went to zoo the train was broken and she was too small to slide down the hill... we had a great time!

Trampolines and Airplanes

Mommy and Uncle Brian took me to Sky High to jump!  Then, we went to Airport Cafe and had lunch and saw airplanes and helicopters.  I had fun at Sky High but I wouldn't jump without my mom, so I can't go back until I'm about three!

Personalized Pillowcase

have a student whose parent, M.L. Gonzalez, wins the Mom of the Year award!  This ubermom is a teachers dream come true... not only does she do her part to help her son at home, but she is ultra supportive in, and out, of the classroom.

Take a look at what she made Noa for Christmas... a beautiful pillowcase.  I wouldn't even try to compete with this momma... she eats, sleeps, and breathes mommyhood - and she's really good at it!

When Grandma Babysits...

I left Noa home with my mom while I went on a date... Noa had chocolate ice-cream in bed and then got to fall asleep in grandma's bed.  I wonder who fell asleep before who?!  Lol

Hands Are Not For Hitting

Noa had a rough day at Rita's house... she hit 3 friends.  I'm not making excuses for her behavior but she was hit too, just not sure who hit first?!  She also had an accident during nap time.  Potty training is still work in progress... the last 3 nights she wet the bed and she doesn't always poop in the toilet. We have been potty training for a month now.

She pooped in toilet!!!

Tonight, Noa pooped in the toilet!!!  She has done such a fabulous job of keeping her panties dry, but hand't yet mastered pooping in the toilet.  I kept telling her as soon as she pooped in the toilet I would take her to buy a toy, and tonight it happened right before bed.  We were playing a game of Candyland and she told me she had to go, and then she pooped in toilet!  She put her slippers on and off we went to buy a toy!

Thank you to the kind lady who took picture!

I'm such a proud momma!

Potty Training: Day 4

On the 4th day of potty training, Noa finally said, "I have to go potty!"  She has only had a few accidents, however, has not yet mastered pooping in the toilet.  Overall, I'm a pretty happy momma!  We don't use any diapers/pull-ups at night, she wakes up dry, and has transitioned back to daycare without any signs of regression, in fact, at Rita's (daycare) she uses the big toilet... here at home we are still using a potty seat.

On Day 4, we went to Chuck E Cheese's and she played, ate, and went pee in her travel potty chair - which I LOVE!!  The travel potty chair, POTETTE plus, is the best invention ever... the chair folds flat for transport, has pop-up legs for an instant bathroom, includes disposable liners so there is no mess, and it also converts to an insert for a regular size toilet.
